Blue Zinc

Blue Zinc: Prohibited products

The reviewer decided your extension gives access to content it shouldn't: paywalled articles, login-restricted pages or copyrighted media. The most common case is downloading YouTube videos. No manifest change fixes this. You remove the functionality, or the item can't be listed.

The fix: rejected → fixed

manifest.json− rejected+ fixed
"content_scripts": [{ "matches": ["<all_urls>"],Added: "exclude_matches": ["*://*.youtube.com/*", "*://youtube.com/*"], "js": ["detector.js"] }],Removed: "description": "Download any video, including YouTube, in HD."Added: "description": "Save videos you have rights to from supported sites. YouTube is not supported."

This fix only applies when the prohibited use was a side effect, as with a general video saver. Block it in code and remove it from the listing, screenshots and description. Rewording alone will not get through review.

Why you got Blue Zinc

  • A video downloader that works on YouTube, or whose screenshots or description mention YouTube.
  • Features that remove or bypass paywalls ("read premium articles free").
  • Access to content that normally requires an account you don't own.
  • Downloading or ripping copyrighted music, films or books.

Pre-resubmit checklist

Your ticks are saved in this browser.

Common mistake: Don't argue in the appeal that users "own" the content. Reviewers judge what the product enables. Only appeal if the reviewer misread what your extension does.

Appeal or resubmission note

Replace the [BRACKETS], then use the appeal link in your rejection email. Keep it short and factual, and list only changes you actually made.

Hello Chrome Web Store team,

My item [EXTENSION NAME] (ID: [ITEM ID]) was rejected with reference Blue Zinc.

I have reviewed the policy and made the following changes in version [NEW VERSION]:
- Blocked the extension from running on [SITE] in code (exclude_matches and a runtime check).
- Removed all references to [SITE / PAYWALL BYPASS] from the listing, screenshots and description.
- The extension now only [DESCRIBE ALLOWED FUNCTION].

[ONE SENTENCE ON WHAT THE EXTENSION DOES AND WHY IT NEEDS WHAT REMAINS.]

I have resubmitted the updated package. If anything still does not comply, I would appreciate a pointer to the specific file or listing field so I can fix it.

Thank you,
[YOUR NAME]
